Lost a CZ Shadow 2 today

Serious question.

You are at an outdoor range like chestnut where there is no range officers, no office or check-in, no one else is there. You see a pistol sitting on the table. What is the correct thing to do?
Simple, I immediately put it in my car and keep shooting. If the owner doesn't come looking for it while I'm there, I leave a note saying "If you left a firearm here, your day just got better. Call this number with a detailed description." Then I call DNR and let them know I found a gun in case the owner calls them.

Glad you got it back.

For the record, if I found it I would have returned it....

After I put a few hundred rounds thru it lol.
Lol he told me it was a sweet gun and if it was his he would want someone to return it and I asked if he at least shot it and he said no but I told him we would meet up and I would let him have his way with it

OP leaves behind a gun. We blame the person that comes behind him?

Not saying OP is at zero fault, I think a better question is do you condone someone taking a pistol in that situation? You seem to by your posting in this thread.

Glad a stand up guy picked it up for you brother! Glad you got it back.

That wont fly. It needs to be reported to the popo. What happens when the guy reports it stolen? You are in posession of a stolen firearm.

I'm not calling PoPo in the first week. I'm sure they'll want it and if it was MY gun, I wouldn't want to deal with the paper work trying to get it back. If no call in a week or so, yeah, PoPo can have it.
""Stolen gun". You mean the one I called DNR about? Call them."

You trust the system way too much. Found property is considered stolen. There are no finders keepers laws. I would call popo immediately to cover my ass.
