Anyone here knowledgable on improving a M1 Garand's accuracy? I have one and it needs some help in the accuracy department.

I heard of a way to rework the stock so that the stock and the upper assembly fit together tight, mine is not tight at all. Anyone know anything about that?

It is a 1954 Springfield M1.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

My rear sight doesn't click correctly. I reset it after watching some videos online. It still functions but doesn't give that distinct click noise.

May have dirt or cosmoline in it, or is worn out. Detail strip the rear sight and see what you have.

Also, any play associated with the front gas tube on the barrel splines?

I need to do another test on it but last time I shot at around 75-100 yards it was hitting everywhere on the paper. I really just wanted that if the stock is loose on the upper assembly will that cause the M1 to be inaccurate?

Have you de-coppered the barrel yet? What are the TE and MW readings?
