I recently received this M1 Garand and would like to know more about it. I'm finding some mixed information online and figured ODT could set me straight. I really want to know if this Garand is junk or......underappreciated.

This is what I know:
Springfield Armory 1943, trigger assembly= D 28290 SA, Op Rod= 382 6 SA, Bottom of receiver= B6B diamond D 28291 28, bolt= 6528287-6A A11

The bottom of the receiver and the barrel read "Federal Ordinance Inc. So. El Mante, CA"

It seems there is a lot of hatred for Federal Ordinance. Is it justified, or over blown?

If it is a reweld, you should be able to see it if you remove the cliplatch and examine that slot closely.

Also, check the drawing number of the receiver on the front leg and compare it to the date range of the serial number. The dates for the various drawing numbers are easily found on the net.

If it is a mismatch, it is a reweld. That company was known for welding 2 demilled halves and recreating a receiver. But, not all of their marked receivers are rewelds.
