When Elmer Ballance, the man who started S/A... opened up shop on his property in Devine, Texas... He also marked his barrels with a 1 or 2 line address...on the bottom of the barrel...at the location of the gas cylinder... some are one lines...some are 2 lines... usually reads RT.1 Bx 210 top line... and Devine TX. on the bottom line... Just another signature mark for a real Devine rifle... This rifle wears its original 5/64 TRW National Match barrel... and hasn't been shot since the 1975 Camp Perry Natl. Matches...

I would shoot it. But that's me...Heck i would take it to CAMP PERRY and use it in a match with the most expensive factory match ammo ever made.

I once saw Devine Rifle once at bullseye, the kid at the counter didn't know what he had, and asked me if I wanted to buy it as he had seen me with a few M1A's before. I said "let me take a look" and he said $1200 bucks. I told the guy "I would be more than happy to take your rifle" but I suggested to look around, "you see this rifle is special and could you pay for college". I then smiled after I looked it over and said, "your welcome, try the m14forum when you get home after you get an appraisal".
