most of those cracks can be stabilized with a light sanding from the inside, a few dimples made with a finishing nail, and a thin coat of fiberglass resin.

I have an unopened box of acraglass that will fix it up well....I have no need for it, you or anyone else here can have it, just pay for shipping

Well she arrived. I will get some pics up. It is a 1899 receiver, Westinghouse bolt. The crack was on the side almost like it was stacked on a pallet or something (it doesn't to me look like a crack from rearward loading but instead a side load), and appears to have already been repaired, although to me it really probably needs a couple of pins. All in all not too bad a deal for what it is.

Drill it small and use brass screws not flush or counter sunk. Then grind the head off. Then it will look like the brass pin repairs seen on alot of mosins except you wont have to worry about them working out.

Sorry. Just a disclaimer not a gunsmith here. Just a guy with ideas. Someone might know better than me. Just my experience that the onlu thing I could get to stick in my cosmoline soaked stock was screws.
