Heading up to Maine in October for the first time to chase some grouse. Potentially looking for a guide. We will be running our own dogs and camping. We’re not looking for the “lodge” experience. Just someone who wants to show a few southerners around the north woods for a few days. Any suggestions?

October in Maine?..hope its not late October or you might need snowshoes.

I travel a lot to Maine. Ive seen snow on the ground at Halloween up there.

The winter of 2018/2019. They got the first snowfall on October 28th

Thanks Jake. You have any personal experience with these people or was this just your quick google search?
Googlefu. Maine is known as "Vacationland" so they see too many out of state people every year. You would have better luck with one of those guide outfits than finding a local hunter that wants to guide some out of towers. Not saying you can't find that person, just much harder.

Yep, when I lived up there, first snow was always end of October (in the Bangor area).
