MAJOR UPDATE: Phineas C. Zoid - Pistol Whack . . . . . (my first custom 1911 build)

And then THIS pair is the infamous "Long Strange Trip" grips I made especially for this pistol . . . . They are a really nice set of dyed Maple Burl . . . . .

My lighting and camera don't do them justice. THIS is the pair this old girl will wear . . . . . .

Beautiful grips. :first:

Holy Wankers, I just can't contain myself . . . !

But first the story: Okay, I was getting impatient. I really wanted to see how this gun was going to look and feel when I get all the parts and pieces ready to put together. I had to pull the ejector to get the rails finished , but dang . . . . . I went ahead and did just that. I really didn't want to pull the ejector. Much fear and trepidation because that is yet another step in this process I've read horror stories about, and have never done before. I figured I couldn't screw that up any worse than any other step, so what the heck . . . out it came.

I kind of felt like a dentist pulling a molar. JEM had the ejector staked in nice and tight, but I needed to prove to myself I was making progress on getting the slide to fit the frame. I was first concerned that I didn't have a pin punch exactly the right size, and I've graduated from using toothpicks and wood slivers to disassemble 1911's long ago. Turns out, a 1/16" punch was in my stable, and exactly the right size.

Anyway, CRAP, I am rambling on and on, but I am here to SHOW PICHERS . . . . . !

I put the major parts and pieces together for a photo shoot. I have a lot left to do, but I wanted to see it fairly assembled to give me motivation to finish. It isn't all aligned, no barrel, ignition parts, or recoil spring yet, but . . . . . I LOVE IT!

I share now with you, my vision, the Phineas C. Zoid 1911 . . . . . . .

HOLY CRAP does this look and feel nice!
