Marine Corps

I am with you.... sorry to hear.... I am going through something similar.... my son wants to join the military, but with ADHD, they will not take him. Apparently the medicines he takes flags him. I wish you son the best......

When he gets home have your Doctor test him for Hep B. Just to make sure, sometimes things get mixed up, or come up wrong. If your Doctor doesn't find anything, your son can try to get back in, but its going to be hell and take about a year to do. Good luck.

Howie we'll keep you all in our prayers that everything turns out OK. I would shake his hand and hug his neck first thing because it takes some grit to step forward and put yourself in harms way. I know this is a let down on his path of life but I am confident that there is something better just over the horizon. Both of you hold your head high and feel proud that YOU BOTH enlisted to serve this great nation we call home. Semper Fi my friend, Semper Fi! Have a Merry Christmas and I hope he gets back safely before Christmas day.

Just talked with his Drill Instructor. He said he was doing fine and would have finished boot camp without a problem and been a fine marine. Also says it's very unfortunate and is doing everything he can to make sure he gets home safely........thanks again for all of the kind words......
Ken

Congrats to you sir, for raising a fine son. Double dose of congrats to your son for having the intestinal fortitude to reach down, grab a pair, and shout I'LL DO IT! :usa2: Hope tests are neg and he can recycle.

Hope all turns out ok with your son, Know how hard it must have been for him to get that news . I would have him tested again when he gets home but i am also pretty sure that they have already retested him. If they poped positive then surely they would have done another test to make sure. Best of luck in whatever he choices after he gets back home . Least he can say he went and which is way more than a lot ever do. Plus with the effort he put in and the weight he lost to get there he is for sure a more healthy person now than he was before attempting it . Semper Fi

I've learned quite a few things about the virus. It is very possible that he tested positive from possibly having the virus once but was cured when he took the vaccine years ago. Nothing like being told your child may have a life threatening disease and then never hearing another thing from anyone.

Thoughts and Prayers are with you and your Son.
If it counts for anything, this old Engineer is proud of him.

+1 on the retest...
Rule #1 in the Military, EVERYTHING you have was manufactured by the lowest bidder...

Sounds reassuring to me. I concur with what's been said already. He's already made his commitment and that's a point of pride. Sounds like he might still get a chance to carry through too. Semper Fi.
