where in georgia are you shooting 100 yds? i'd put a peep sight to throw up quick. i still hunt but the furthest i take on a regular basis is about 30 yds? i see the scope as extra weight too. meant to be a hoopty rifle, not pretty.

i say no scope. my grandfather bought my dad one for his 14th bday and he has shot it for 40+ years without one and i love it and no ned for a scope!!

If you're anything like me, you could definitely use some optics. You can get a solid 3-9x scope that will hold zero for under $100.. Why not?

I've hunted with 336's for 37 years and never had a scope on one till about 4 years ago. This is the first scope I ever put on one of my 336's and its my favorite, its small and sits very low on the reciever and it just flip's over to the side so I can still use my iron sights if I want to. Its a ole fixed power K25 Weaver and it works great, around here most of my shots are well under 100 yards.
I think small scopes mounted low on the reciever is the way to go on a 336 but thats just my opinion and what works best for me. Put you a scope on your rifle and try it, if you dont like it you can always take it off.
