Son is doing this, has a question, the Marlin stock is polymer and has just one screw in the trigger guard. The Boyd stock is wood and has 2 screws in the trigger guard. Is it just as simple as drilling a hole for a second screw in the Boyd's stock? Does he need a different trigger guard? He has searched youtube for a video of this conversion with no luck, any and all suggestions welcomed. He has the rifle, otherwise I might be able to provide a better description of what is involved. Thanks for letting me pick your brains.

I think the trigger guard is molded as part of the polymer stock. To change to a wood stock will require a different trigger guard. If I remember correctly the screw in front of the trigger screws into the stock, the one behind the trigger screws into the receiver.

Yep, I did a Boyd's stock on a Marlin 882, had to order a new trigger guard from Brownell's to use the 2 screws.
