Massachusetts man in fear of life, shoots killer Golden Retriever

One year old dog ain’t no puppy.

My last Golden weighed about 90lbs and would defend me with her life.

Same size and looking dog charging me would be shot very quickly, and I’m one that doesn’t advocate that but in rare occasions.

why are people getting tied up with poultry vs livestock semantics?
the fact that the government does not consider them livestock, has nothing to due with it. chickens can be raised as pets, egg producers, food, or all of the above. cattle can be raised as pets, milk producers, food,or all of the above. the fact is a dog killed a mans animals, the useless dog owner let it happen, and the man shot the dog when he felt threatened...
moral of the story...
keep you dog under control, dont let it kill other peoples animals, and dont let it attack people.

Some people just need to take the time to train their dogs. Once I taught my dog that chickens were not to be harmed, she learned that just by simply following them around, little drops of heaven would fall out of their butts... :puke:

I'm going to break this down real simple in terms everyone can understand.

-Dog comes on your property starting **** and you shoot it = Dog/Dog owner is an asshole.

-You go on dogs property starting **** and shoot it = you're the asshole.

:pound:

... and then want's to give you big wet kisses for teacher her this wonderful thing.

I'm not making a judgment about what this guy did, but I will relate two things.

First, when I was a kid I had an old pointer that was given to me when I started bird hunting. I came home from school one day and found that he had escaped and had been shot in the gut. He was in our yard when I found him and I was the only one there. He was in a lot of pain and was obviously not going to survive. I would not have any way to transport him to the vet for a couple more hours and I would not let him suffer that long. I had to put him down myself.
I found out about a week later that he had been shot by a neighbor while he was killing one of his chickens. My reaction was to apologize to the neighbor and pay him for his chicken. I failed the dog by allowing him to escape.

Second, the worst scars I have from working as a dog trainer were given to me by an eleven month old female Golden Retriever. She was a very sweet dog, right up to the moment I wouldn't let her do what she wanted to. You can find any personality in any breed of dog.

BTW, anyone that thinks they can easily handle a large and determinedly aggressive dog bare handed has never tried.
When I was working AC it was a small dog like maybe a Jack Russel mix that gave me my worst bite.
