Memorial Day

Bike I saw in Nashville a while back. I didn’t get to meet the guy riding it, but it made an impression....

Senior Airman Ben (Country Boy) White, United States Air Force PJ. KIA in Afghanistan 2010. My son David went through Basic with Ben, I met him at their graduation in ‘06. One of the nicest and most respectful young men I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. My son has lost many friends in that damn war but Ben’s death hurt him the most. Rest in Peace Ben, you are sorely missed....

Rest easy Ben. You did good.

Capt. Nicholas S. Whitlock USAF, killed along with three of his fellow Airmen when their reconnaissance plane crashed upon landing in Africa after a recon mission in the Middle East. He was a hometown boy, my son went all through school with Nicholas and both joined the Air Force in 2006. I had the honor to ride with the Patriot Guard Riders in this escort from Newnan Airport (renamed “Whitlock Field”) to First Baptist Church in Newnan in late February 2012, then rode in the escort to his burial. The photo was taken by PGR photographer Gary Adams when we were entering the cemetery, the same one where my Dad & Grandparents are buried.

EN2 Marc I. Nieto USN, the only son of my friend and retired United States Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt Jesse Nieto, Vietnam Veteran. Killed October 12, 2000 in the cowardly attack on the USS Cole. Please pray for Jesse, he loved his son more than life itself....

I rode thru Gettysburg on the way to visit my grandchildren last Thursday. Lots of big statues for the Iron Brigade and other Northern Army units.
The Southern boys...not so much.

Prayed for the men in gray and blue who died there...and the states rights/individual liberties we lost on that ground.
