Met a couple gun guys from CA

I lived in New Jersey at one point in my life…essentially the 6th borough of New York. The state requires an ID card to purchase/hold ammo and long rifles, individual purchase permits to purchase/hold each handgun. Seemed like a money grab to me. I took the local chief of police to court in order to get a pistol purchase permit. He denied my application because he felt “I don’t need another semiautomatic handgun in the hands of an unknown in my town”. He was concerned that handgun would do “no good”. The judge had to educate the chief on 2nd Amendment rights and I was granted my permit. I thank God everyday I now life in The South …

I think gun laws are created to make citizens feel safe and buy votes for the politicians. I have not perceived any gun laws as helpful over the past 30+ years. I think gun owners - those who do not have a felonious past - are the same across the country. I shot with some California guys in Pennsylvania and they were a great group.

All the guys who are bad mouthing California clearly have never been/have limited experience. California is a super cool and unique place. You can hit the best waves of your life in the morning and that afternoon hit fresh powder. Everyone is friendly and nice, like genuinely fiendly and nice not the shallow southern sh!t we have. Is your partner not a matching color? No one cares. I can't tell you how many times in Atlanta someone would try to explain to my wife she wasn't upgrading just because I am whiter than Casper.
My dad lived there 5ish years ago for a few years (San Jose specifically), he left all his guns with his brother minus a random CA legal one. He said there's a huge gun/hunting community but everyone just keeps quiet about it.
I'd never move because of how expensive it is but if I had a job that paid 300k I'd be tempted to for a season.

Born and raised, grew up in Bay Area, lots of bird hunting. Used to duck and goose hunt on the California and Oregon border. Great hunting on the pacific flyway. Most of my family still lives there.
if the politicians had not ****ed it up ,I would have went back after retirement. BUT, I like it here better, I wound have to pay a fortune to have what I have here in Northern Ca
