I already got the loan approved, numbers aren't bad, just looking at insurance, I really need to understand insurance more

I just changed mine over from Foremost to Markel,it went from 430 a year to 108 with full coverage. It is on a 97 Yamaha Virago 1100.

The street triple will be classified as a sport bike by most insurances, which is why the quote was high for full coverage. State Farm is the only company that I know of that bases their insurance off engine size, and doesn't penalize for one's considered sport bikes.

I have used them when I have insured sportier bikes.

whatever you do, make sure you get GAP. My mom totaled her 2015 Sportster and they paid out everything. She went back to Harley and got the same bike. Lol. Nothing out of pocket,

You only need GAP insurance if you put little or nothing down.

It really depends on the bike. I am 55 have a great driving record and through foremost my ninja 600 is less than 200 a year full coverage. However my Ducati is over 600 a year. Dairy land has better rates but they will not insure my Ducati.
