I have one pit who is the best dog I've ever had, he's a 4 yo male...I've been thinking about getting a female pup...I've read mixed things that they should never be left alone together and some say its fine with the age difference/gender difference. I'd like to hear from people that have pit bulls or have in the past

Multiple pit bulls living together

I owned two rescues that did great together until one of them had a toy that the other wanted...that's when all Hell would break loose. It really depends on their temperment
I had 2 that were raised together at 18 months all hell broke loose.Never would have them together again after that.
I have 2 males, one neutered the other is not. 1 blue and 1 red, they both get along great!! one time they got out and stayed together the entire time. They were given to me as brothers, however they were apart for close to a year, reintroduced and it was like they had always been together. they play fight an wrestle around the yard but no aggression towards eachother at all. hope is helps!! good luck! they are great dogs!!
We adopted our first pit(female) and then when she was approximately 1 we brought in a male pit puppy. It was the best thing we have done; they do wrestle and play rough but have not had any incidents in the past year that they have been together.
Opposite sex should be fine , I bread them for 3 years and never had a problem but always keep an eye on them when you can and when you can't crate them so you know they aren't doing anything they shouldn't .
also toys being out with them was a big no no , the female I had with my male was very possessive over her toys so I said no toys for you together.

It wouldnt be fair to crate just one, but it may be needed if you see that they do not get along. I would say make sure you have more than enough toys for both so hopefully they won't end up fighting over one.
I would see how they do together, at some point they will have a fight probably to establish dominance so you can almost expect that. Be prepared to act quick
When you are not home I would certainly not leave any toys out. Exercise them a lot, in order to keep them calm as they can be high energy breed. Use your best judgment, if you are not up for putting in the time and effort

My current pit plays well with the majority of other dogs, even males even with toys out. I could always crate the pup I would get but there is no crating the one I have now, he's too spoiled he would think he's in trouble if I put him in a crate...last time I put him in one was about 6 months ago just so I could clean up some broken glass and he was shaking and whining like he did something wrong.
