My 87 Cutty

Parts can be found, including whole cars, on craigslist from time to time. The 350 Rocket is a great motor. If you find a good one buy it. You will thank me later, lol
Ya know that I what I think I am going to do. After researching, it would kind of be a shame to covert it to a SBC. Do you know if the intake, accessory brackets, wiring harness and all other the crap will the Rocket?

I am not sure brother. There has to be a G Body group or Cutlass group that can point you in the right direction. My brother owned a 1977 Cutlass with a rocket 350 in it. For a completely stock vehicle it was unreal.

The engine comes out this weekend!

Well, I just confirmed that it has the TH200 (METRIC) trans, so I am going to change it out as well while I have the car apart. I am looking for suggestions to to match an olds 350. Do the existing cross members, speed cable, shifter and wiring harness fit a larger trans?

The engine is out, Olds 350 going back in. I am taking all the parts off so that I can turn the engine and tans in for a core.
I have some questions about the emission parts, it is pass the 25 year age requirement as far as testing goes, so do I need this stuff back on the new engine?
I have read that some people take out the A.I.R pump (one hose was kinked off near the cat, this appears to be common and not needed) to make room for the new headers, some peoples cars never run right when they do an emissions delete, I am kind of lost here as what to keep or get rid of.

I have no idea what a off the shelf refurbed Rocket 350 costs but, if you are doing the swap yourself, I would think a local builder could do you better.

I once had a Chevy van and bought a ATK motor (305) with core swap, ended up swapping the right bank head, sunk the valves "2 TIMES""", it worked out warranty wise, where it more than paid for the motor and all other parts needed but, only because I was working on it at a friends shop. Changing heads and motors in a van, is something I never want to do again.

Buy local, bitch local!

Holy ****!, look at what I got in the mail today.

This car was my granny's back when I was a teenager, recently my dad asked I could sell it for him, I said yeah real easy, I will buy it consider it sold and picked it up today.

I drove this car some when I was teenager and now my son will be able to drive it as a teenager as well!
I LOVE the old school feel of it.
Cassette deck, cig lighter, ashtrays in the back of the seats, the gas cap is behind the license plate, no air bags etc.
It is the (I think) last year they made this car in RWD, maybe 88, it's got the 5.0 307 with a 4 speed auto. 4BBL with 87K miles

This car will be a beauty again without a doubt.
It sat for about 5-6 years till today, I went to the parts store to get a new battery and starting fluid. I asked the guys at the counter how to get the old gas out of the tank, he said there is no need to drain it if, he and a customer both recommended that I put some seafaom and some fresh gas in it, use the starting fluid to start and keep it running until the new mixture of fuel made it through the system....she purrs like a kitten!

Besides the obvious paint job, I believe the valve seals are leaking and it burns oil quite a bit, everything else seems to be in good shape at this point. I want to fully restore this car, this will be my first project car that will eventually be a complete redo.
Where should I, or where you y'all start?

as anything start with the suspension first, ball joints tierods etc bushings.. brakes..get that all going first..then pull the motor for a rebuild or reseal..wash out engine bay and detail everything up....

sometimes when a car sits for a long time it will look like its
burning oil when you fire it up,but the motor is healthy

stuck pvc valve would also be something to check/replace

great cars
yep and check the vacuum modulator on the trans..any oil in the tube and you need a new one ..easy install..most likey just broken valve stem seals
