6 pages of replies and not one single .257 Roberts fan out there?!?!? Hard to believe!! and only 1 that I recall seeing with .243, so odd. I grew up hunting up north and it was 257, 243, 270 or 30-06 and that was it!! But for me, not a 243 or 270 fan, but adequate rounds none the less. For me 257, 30-06 or 35 Rem. When I want bear, bring me my 35 Whelen, and if I need to reach out and touch some stuff, 300 H&H mag or 7mm Mag

That's because 25-06 is the better version of .257 Bob.

Surprised to see .308 on so many lists. Its a satisfactory deer round, but nothing stellar.
