My first chanterelles!

I looked in the yard this morning and it's orange with chanterelles.
I pick a pound or so and cleaned them up. A little nervous about wild shrooms, so I googled and googled to make sure I ID'd them right, so sauteed a few in butter with some onions and white mushrooms.

Man, a meaty, sweet mushroom!

Meatloaf is turkey meatloaf with chopped vidalia and white mushrooms for moisture. It's fantastic!

Always wanted to go shroomin and try some wild mushrooms!

Best I could ever do was try a bunch of varieties at the Decatur Farmer's Market. A lot of them were really good but some of them I did NOT like.

Nice foraging. Start learning how to ID hen of the woods, chicken of the woods and morells. Really good eating mushrooms.

i got a little nervous after eating and watching a video showing jack o latern mushrooms which are toxic and look very similar. i had to go check mine again to be sure i was safe. im still alive so all is well.

i went back out and found another dozen and havent even ventured out of the front yard. the forest behind me is probably full.

i had a single morel last year, but have seen none yet.

If you get "loopy" do you call it "jazz shroomin" ?

this is a gallon bowl of them. theres still plenty to pick so now im looking into dehydrating them.

I found some in the woods behind my house in Monroe a few times. It had to be pretty wet for them to decide to sprout. They are delicious with some butter and garlic.
