I have been fascinated with the Springfield 1922 rifle since shooting one in JROTC so any years ago. I never had the knowledge nor the resources to acquire one, but that has fortunately changed. Starting from the top is the:
Springfield Armory Model of 1922, Barrel Date - 11/22, NRA Sales Rifle
Springfield Model 1924 International Target Rifle, only 12 built for the 1924 USA Olympic Rilfe Team, Built on a Model of 1922 receiver with an improved M1 bolt
Springfield Armory M1922MI, Barrel Date - 10/31, NRA Sales Rifle
Springfield Armory Model of 1922MII, Barrel Date - 9/25, MI Issue Rifle upgraded to M2
Springfield Armory M2, Barrel Date - 1/42, Issue Rifle
Early Springfield M2 with non-adjustable bolt upgraded to M2 with headspace adjustable bolt and new barrel - 8/42 barrel date
Springfield 1903 Sporter, 1 of last 27 built in 1938, 5/38 Star Gauged Barrel, (30-06, not 22 rimfire), The 1903 Sporters were inspired and modeled on the Model of 1922
Now the challenge of filling in the spaces. The hunt is on for:
M1922M1 Issue Rifle, not upgraded by Springfield Armory
M1922M1 DCM Club Rifle, Issue rifle that was converted to NRA configuration
M1922M1 / M2 Transition rifle, Late 1922M1 rifle with serialized, first variant M2 bolt
M2, First Variant with non-adjustable M2 bolt
M2 NRA Sale Rifle, only 80 made
My Unicorn, a M1924 International Rifle, only 12 made for the 1924 US Olympic Shooting Team
