Mystery Sound in the Woods

This will sound like it's out of left field, but I have heard this happen several times now.

You could be hearing a bluejay. Yes. The humble bluejay is actually an exceptional mimic when it comes to other birds. I have heard ones that sound exactly like a sea gull, red tail hawk, red shouldered hawk, owl. (Still waiting on the leaf blower mimic.)

Here's one pretending it's a red tail hawk:

I heard it again today, in the exact same specific grove of mature hickory and poplar. But today, instead of an elk bugle, it was just like a creaky door hinge but extremely loud. Five minutes on google later, I see it's normal for old dying trees to creak and moan and make all kinds of crazy sounds. Given the size and age of these trees, and the fact there are no elk in trees, and no bird makes this sound at this volume, I am going to assume it is just a very old dying tree creaking in the breeze.
