Wood working helped me through a lot of long cold winters.
My most enjoyed project was making an oak hope chest lined with cedar for my daughter.
It took an entire winter, but man I did good.
That was 15 years ago, now she's married with two children and it holds things like her wedding dress.

Build a fishing rod, makes lures or tie flies, building a game (duck,crow,deer, etc.) call.
Make a fishing rod, boy that's an interesting thought!
I grew up fishing with a bamboo fly rod, it had the best action of any fly rod I've ever fished with.
A couple of years ago I remember looking into the cost of getting one and it was a couple thousand dollars for a cheap one. Three or more thousand for a good one! Wonder if you could make one cheap?
