Need a new chainsaw and rather not take a second mortgage out...

I don't think it is as much the brand as it is the way you maintain it. Agree 100% on the non-ethanol gas, and keeping an edge on the chain helps on both ends. Stihl is all I have owned so far, (029 & MS210 for limbs and small stuff) both used. Huskys are lighter and spin a little faster, but they dont seem to have the same low end. My dad swears by his McCullough and it has never failed to do the job after 15+ years. But that 029 made a believer out of him the first time he used it...

I have a truck load of Sthil equipment several blowers, edgers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, and saws. They are the best out there. Husqvarna is 2nd I have some husqvarna equipment as well but stihl takes the cake

This is what you do... Buy a used one from Home Depot tool rental. It's a dolmar saw branded ax makita. Badass power, German saw, cleaned and maintained after every use. Ditch the safety blade for a chipping blade.

This. I do all the repairs for HD's customer tools, and the fleet tools that they rent. Those saws a top notch. Your getting a commercial logging saw with a 20 inch bar for around 160 bucks. They will run 30+ bars as well. Cant beat that deal.

Just noticed you were in west ga. I used to work at the HD tool rental in Carrollton. That's how I know about this
