Time to get a slip and fall alert for my Dad, need to get medical help to home and have notification send to me at work should the worst happen and he fall or have some type of medical problem.
I`ve seen several of my customers wearing the push button alerts on a lanyard around their necks on service calls, that seems like it would be the best solution.

Two questions:
When the paramedics arrive at your house after being summoned, if you`re unable to let them in, how do they gain access?

Anyone have any experience with using one of these companies as far as quality of service and what costs run for coverage?

Try before you pry.

My mom has one. She has used it several times.

The first time the Fire Department came and the front door was locked, and my sister was too far away to get there quickly. So they did what Fire Departments do, they kicked the door in.

Since then, we have installed a lock box outside, with a house key in it. They have since come, and the medical alert people have given them the code to grab the key.

It is fairly simple and has saved us a lot of trouble and grief.

I believe the system we use is from Mobile Help.

We used Bay Alarm Medical for our Mother primarily because of the ratings from Consumer Reports.

A lock box with the spare key was attached at the front door.
The combination was on file with Bay Alarm and they were authorized to provide the combination to emergency services.

She accidently set if off a few times, but it was not a big deal. The system connected to the support center and the agent spoke through the speaker to be sure mom was okay.

The fall detection was accurate for a "fast fall" but not as accurate to detect a "slow fall" like slipping out of a chair.
The best solution was a lanyard or a wrist band plus a push button in the bathroom and the main unit by her chair in the living room.

There are several different options. The lease for the equipment and the monthly service was about $35 total.

When she eventually moved in with us, it was very simple to return the equipment and cancel the service.

Apple watch has great fall detection and add a SIM and they can call for help right from their watch. It also notifies a list.....that and a smart lock on one of the doors to unlock it from anywhere.....

We have this set up for my Mother-in-law since 2019 and it has worked well twice now.

I think I used life alert with my dad. Couple hundred up front but then $39 a month for monitoring. He never used it and I had to send it back when he passed. I kinda thought it was a scam. I agree with cell phone on a lanyard.

To all who took the time to replay- thanks for the info.

Picked MobileHelp due to consumer feedback, coverage area and monthly cost (about $32.00) for their least complicated to use device.
Now have a lock box mounted with house keys and they give access code to first responders and alert me that they have received an alarm.
