So for example I am going to buy this completed lower: https://palmettostatearmory.com/bla...r15-complete-moe-ept-stealth-lower-black.html

However I want to turn my AR into a 5.56 pistol, so would this upper work: https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-10-5-5-56-1-7-nitride-upper-w-o-bcg-or-ch-507020.html ? I'm honestly confused on how I can turn it into a pistol. Would it be the lower that is responsible for that or the upper? Lastly if I did want to buy both the upper and lowers I have linked above, would they be compatible with each other? Thank you for any advice, as I will be ordering them tonight.

once you put a stock on a completed lower...It is considered a rifle.
Is there a completed lower I can get where it is already considered a pistol with a stock so I don't have to file?
and nope, if you want an AR15 with a barrel less than 16" and a stock...that's a SBR, and will have to be registered with the ATF.

If you want a stock on an AR lower it needs a 16” barrel or longer ... a rifle has a stock a pistol has a brace. If you go to a shorter barrel than 16” and want a stock you need to file the form with the BATFE to get a SBR stamp and register it. With a braced pistol you can have any length barrel but rifles are different ...

You can do a 14.5 inch barrel then pin/weld a muzzle device. You’ll have a shorter rifle without breaking the law. You can also SBR it.
