Need advise on new bolt build.

Midwest Gun werks has the Weatherby 307 long actions for 749.00... seemed like a good price I just wasn't sure of quality. Thank you for your input.

5rds of .280AI hunting ammo at 100yds out of my 307.

Another option is to look at any of the custom actions- Aero Solus would be a good start, ARC, Impact, etc. all solid and if you get a good CNC machined action you can buy a "prefit" that you just screw on a barrel (properly headspaced).
I looked at Solus but their actions are almost a grand. There are far better options for close to that money from what I am reading. The Weatherby 307 are less expensive and with groups like cmshoot is stamping it's kinda hard to bash that action. Plus the 307 is 200 less than the Solus.

I'm getting right ready to purchase my action for my new volt build. I'm kind of green around the ears when it comes to bolt action builds and I'd like a little help in picking out a decent action. It's going to be a long action because I'm either going with the 7mm PRC are the 300 PRC. I don't want to have the Rolls-Royce of actions but I don't want to Savage action either. Who makes a decent action for one of those two calibers. I know Pacific tool engage makes good bolts but I don't know anything other than that.
Surgeon action?

I don't know if it's a option anymore, but a good ole Mauser action would be a good start. used to be able to get them cheap. Change out the trigger group and safety. Remington, Winchester, Browning and Wby are also good. Nothin wrong with a old Savage either. I guess the Browning Abolt is my favorite. Very fine tuned with no extra play and a 60* bolt turn. Next might well be an old Mauser. And you might be able to fit an extra round or two in the magazine. My 308 holds 6rds in it and shoots 1 hole groups at 100yds. It's a 6lb rifle with a scope

Try a Stolle if you can find one. You can find Remington Sportsman 78s cheep and they are a fine action. That's 78 NOT 788. Same action as the 700 but bluing is different.
