Please see photos. Inherited a large number of firearms from my father recently. Any info would be much appreciated.

Early carbine. No re arsenal, but no push button safety? Also no ears on the front sight. Buckhorn rear sight? Inland from that S/N, if USGI.

Like Kyle said, probably commercial.

Appreciate the input. Other than the stamp on the butt of the stock, no markings I can locate other than the serial number shown. So far only dead-ends researching online.

I'd use indirect light, a grey or muted background and we need closeups of the recess cut for the sling/oiler, top of the barrel just aft of the front sight, pull the trigger group and photo any lot numbers, and take the op rod out so we can see the recoil system. Many commercial made M1s have distinctive recoil systems. The plum coloring on the receiver and the buckhorn style rear sight are not military.
