A friend has a Rossi 243/20 gauge single shot that has failure to fire problems with the 243. The 20 gauge barrel has never been on the gun. The first two rounds did not fire and the firing pin made contact with the primers. Next 8 no problem. Next round failed to fire. Used Remington ammo that is old but stored properly. I suggested a thorough cleaning and fresh ammo.
Anybody else experience this with a Rossi?
Any help/ input is much appreciated.
Thanks guys.

If the primers were dented as much as you would expect, it sounds like an ammo issue.

I did not see the ammo or spent brass. I do agree that it sounds like a ammo issue.

Try another brand of ammo, maybe Winchester. Did he try to fire the ammo a second time?

He was using Winchester ammo and did not try the failed ammo a second time.
He has purchased fresh ammo and is going to clean the gun. It has been sitting in a safe for a long time and probably needs a cleaning.

Thank you both for the help. I will pass it along.
