(Need ODT Advice ) So, this is my yard…..

It’s a builder special, 30 feet of bermuda, with ‘whathever the hell was already back there when they finished’ the back half of the yard.

The Bermuda is getting worse - patches develop and wont’ grow in. 2 dogs and a kid put it to good use, but it’s fricking Bermuda. It should hold up to it. I have it serviced by Top Turf throughout the year and while they do a decent job with the weeds the grass won’t fill in.


Areas by the patio and fence are particularly bad now.


I need options on how to best fix it for a decent price. I’ve tried seeding once and it didn’t work too well. May try again after it’s aerated next week. Sod, seed, different species - what’s the best option?

You collect soil samples and take them to the ag ext office near you for analysis and specify what grasses you wish to grow?

They can tell you what you need to add to the soil to make that possible.

X2 on the soil sample to get specs on what soil is lacking.

Or you could just use what DOT uses and have a hayfield in about 3 weeks lmao

^^^^^^^ dig about 8oz from 6 spots from the backs yard in on bag and the same from the front. Mark the bags because you can easily have 2 different dirts

Looks like it might be grubs from over here. Have you ever put down grub killer?

Ya grubs are a possibility. Also, that ground looks haaaaard. When was the last time you aerated? May be time for some top soil and sod in the bad areas and aerate the **** out of the rest and seed and water.

Soli test first , then I would till it and add good top soil then Sod it.


bermuda should be hard to kill , fertilizer, water and sun, lots of sun
