Need opinions and sugg. For home cameras

If any of y’all have any info on where to buy, easy to set up, half ass quality at least…..I know quality costs ! So if i can come up with something that isn’t going to break me, that would be great ! Lol

Here is a little background :
2,700 sq ranch on slab. Pretty basic, rectangular, carport on one side, shed in backyard on other. Fenced nack with locked/cabled gates.
I think roughly 4 cameras - expandable of course, I have a desktop that has nothing but b.s. on it…music, pics, ….it could go into that or i have an old laptop to run a dedicated if needed. Whatever it takes.

Anyhow, neighbor across the street noticed my next door neighbor and another individual, leaning up against my gate on shed side of house, toking down, he believes. He has a straight shot look across the street to theat blind side of my house, when he sits on his front porch . He said at first he thought they were kind of making out…it is a long way to see with bare eye if you are old like us. Then he said he went in and got his glasses and an monocular, then came back to continue to do recon. He said it was clear then they were passing a joint . There is a wood privacy fence that divides our lots…but they are just a few feet up, they are half rotten, etc.,
They did not go into my backyard or shed. They just stepped over into my yard it seems to burn.

I just had full knee replacement one week ago today…..I ain’t in much of a position to do anything right away but I want to know about what it is going to run and where to get. Any input is appreciated !! :cool-new:
Do you have a current alarm system. A lot of times they have cameras available that work with your system. I have a SimpliSafe alarm system and use their newest camera version. They are wireless and can operate either via power cord or battery pack.

Dahua, it’s what I use in smaller residential installations. I use there 4mp turret style camera kit with built in audio. Kit has 6 cameras, 8 channel NVR, and the cameras have built in audio. These will require you running a Cat5/6 from each of them to a central location where the NVR will be located.

Try to stay away from camera systems that are managed by a 3rd party, You want something that you only control the access to and that you can have recording 24/7 to your computer by day /date. I have 12 cameras setup strategically around and inside my home all recording to my HDD, and pointing at doors, cars, any entrance way inside and out, oh and the safe as well.

Look for something that not only records directly to your PC but also has it's own internal memory that can be setup to record via motion detection and send you pics or video directly to your smartphone. Larger internal memory card is good.

There is a lot more to setting up a system like this and it's not Plug-N-Play but, it's also not managed by a 3rd party where your data can be leaked or stolen easily. BTW, they are all made in China anyway. something that you manage and you control the access to is the best way to go. Just my opinion.

I love my Blink cam's from Amazon. Cheap and don't need any wires. Only batteries about every 6 months. I have all door's and point's of entry covered. I also have a ring camera/floodlight on my driveway to let me know if someone is pulling in. It gives me a little piece of mind knowing the house is covered on all sides.

Yep….i had already decided i did not want to pay anyone to do anything AFTER the system is up. I dont want any storage off site, dont want any monitoring- i can handle all that.
Lots of great ideas. Thanks!,

I may have a solution.
I have a set of I believe 4 ring stick up cameras with the optional solar panels so they don’t need to be charged. Send me a message if interested.
