Need recommendation for a good scotch

For 75 bucks I can get a handle of Chivas. I can name single malts I like and some I don't. And, most cost more. Old Pulteney is bout the same price and is good. I am in a wine club. Bout half of them don't taste any better than the Box wine I get at Kroger. But.... I get to try a variety. I would like to get a scotch club up and going. 1 guy buy an expensive single malt we all get to try, rotating every month. Just an idea to discover what I like.

He will prolly have more fun with a great big bottle of Famous Grouse.

He’ll have to be polite and pace himself if you buy one fifth of a nice single malt.

This ^

When I traveled to Scotland I learned that Famous Grouse is the “Budweiser” of Scotland...the highest selling blended Scotch.

It’s good and very inexpensive.

With that said however, if your family is your father-in-law or something like that....then you might want a good 12 year old single malt on hand. Any of the above suggestions would do...and you can get both for about $75-$80.

All here mentioned are good quality scotches, but..do you want something peated, smokey, or a little more approachable? Peat can turn you off scotch for life if you’re not expecting it. Smoke can be overpowering. The more approachable styles can be underwhelming if you want one of the former.
