Need suggestions for BBQ/ butt rubs.

just apple juice. put the butt in a pot and submerge it in the apple juice,set it in the fridge overnight,. the smoke and the juice do all the work....

Some old timers I know use a 5 gal bucket of white vinegar they soak the butts in the night before.

I was a kid and remember bbq’s and Budweiser’s hand in hand... lol
 
Smoked Paprika 1
Course Cracked BlackPepper 1
Turbino Sugar 1
Onion Powder .5
Garlic Powder.5
Chili Powder .5
Red Pepper Flakes .5
Cumin .5 ??
Kosher Salt .5
Buzz All Together in a Spice Grinder or leave Chunky.
 
Agree but also on pork butts, good dusting of salt and heavy coarse black pepper... hickory wood and some charcoal chunks running around 235... sprits the meat with 50/50 apple juice and vinegar... oh my
Last one I did, used a 50/50 apple cider vinegar and apple juice with a shot of Elijah Craig spritz. Came out right

You can do better.....

Academy sells one called Grub Rub with a great balance between salt and sugar.

Any old Ace Hardware has a fine selection of rubs.
I really like Meat Church and Kosmos.

Or, make your own!!!!
