so today i decided i was going to go out put up a target and shoot some out of my 22 and 40 s&w, after 30 minutes of me shooting, a police car pulls up and i put the gun down on the table (after decocking it) next to where i was shooting and greet him. apparently one of my neighbors reported gun fire so he came to check it out.

the officer just decided to come by and make sure nobody was getting shot and i was shooting in a safe area (i was shooting into a dirt hill behind the target). i chatted with the officer a little bit and joked with him. he verified i was doing everything legal and left after informing me that he supports my 2nd amendment rights and that i was allowed to shoot on the property

now i still don't know which one called it in i figure there are three possible origins of the call, probably because it bothered there dogs or something. i do wish they'd just walk up my driveway and tell me i was bothering them instead of calling the police, i shoot frequently after all i figure its expected to hear it by now for a little bit

the officer said i could keep shooting though. canton has some darn good police imo, makes me feel like donating to em sometime, good job on the officer for knowing i was legal in shooting in my yard

Sounds like you need to host an ODT shoot in your back yard so your neighbors can really experience a full range of gunfire. :)

Great to hear Canton PD was up to date on the legalities and supportive of your rights.

You mean you treated the officer with respect and he did the same to you? That's unheard of.....don't you watch the news law enforcement officers are evil.....

Some people just boggle me. Maybe cause I'm a shooter, But 5-6 rds of fire in quick secession may be something to worry about although its probly too late. 30mins of firing, most likely nothing to be concerned about. You probly just bothered them and they wanted to shut you up. I would then increase my fire rate and increase my sound level. And again 30mins till noise ordinances take place do it again.

Add some bump firing in there and maybe some tannerite...

Yeah, thumbs up for Canton PD. Great story!

if they politely asked me to stop i'd consider stopping for awhile, i prefer good blood between me and the neighbors
