I have my thoughts, but I'm not sure. And I can probably get someone's first hand experience here.
A very large oak tree on a subdivision green space fell on a wooded lot I own. I've had tree's removed and know the cost, it would be a few thousand to have things looking like they did.
I can live with it and get some firewood, but if someone else is responsible, I'd just like it cleaned up.

There’s no ‘ strict liability’ for falling tree situations. It comes down to “negligence” — did the property owner next to you (which I guess is the homeowners association, right? ) know or have reason that they should’ve known that that tree was weak and vulnerable to suddenly falling over?

If not, this is just bad luck and it’s your responsibility to fix the damage or have your insurance carrier pay for it if you have general insurance that covers that sort of thing .

If the tree falling was an act of God, meaning weather, high winds etc….. then there really isn’t much you can do other than remove the tree, but if somebody is cutting a tree and it falls on your property, then they are responsible for it and you can have them remove the tree and if they have a problem with that call the sheriff from that particular county.

If dead he pays if not on you.
Yep had this happen to me. The duche bag let it sit in his yard until the leaves turned brown then called the insurance company. I thankfully took pics the day it fell. I would have worked with most any neighbor but this guy. He had used his tractor to pick him up over the fence and cut 1/2 the tree down where it forked about a month before it fell. Cutting was all on my side of the fence. Next wind storm took the remainder right into his yard.
