For cyber Monday Amazon is supposed to have the Nest thermostat for $249 (regular price) and you get a $40 Amazon gift card. I've been wanting one of these and have seen the deal mentioned on multiple websites but can't seem to find it on Amazon's website.

Can anyone find it for me? :D (A link to the sale and not to the thermostat)

Some of the deals release at certain times so I'm trying to find out before I go to bed.

Don't they charge a monthly fee for the service? (sorry, not to get off topic, just curious if it has changed since I looked at the system last).

I have never seen any reference to that, I sure hope not otherwise it'll be going back.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I did look at these during mid summer this year when I replaced mine with a wi-fi unit and seem to remember opting for the Honeywell WiFi unit over the nest due to a monthly charge ..... I might be smoking Arc's stuff again though, so don't quote me on that

I've been looking at articles since you posted it and I haven't found any reference to a subscription :noidea:

no, theres no charges of the sort. only main difference to note, the nest is not a mercury thermostat. it takes the temp of the wall directly across from the face of the therm. so make sure its not facing out a window, at a fish tank or anything crazy

from what im reading, the nest was just an example of the kinds of deals they will be offering. some people stated they thought it would start today on the cyber monday deals but i cant find it anywhere i look.

Guess I was mistaken, but honestly could have sworn I read that in the small print

Damn Arc and his "China White"!! :tsk:

No monthly fee but I had one last year that would not keep its battery charged. An engineer friend (with a new Nest) figured out that his needed a bonafide ground wire run from the furnace to his Nest but I never took the time to run that wire.

Google says unless your old thermostat has a (black?) wire at your C terminal, a small ground wire will need to be run. Commander Dave probably knows about this stuff. Good success.

My Honeywell WiFi also needed the additional power wire (which I have), so no issue, but good point - You will need that wire to power the unit.
