Never again- Dead Center Gun Range Buford- Please shoot below the line!?!

I didn't shoot above the line but my friend did. They're target hangers do seem a bit high. I don't go often though. Just seems like their staff is always ready get back to standing around. There's like 1 guy there that doesn't seem annoyed that you've bothered them for more than 2 whole minutes.

So let me see if I understand your problem. You go to a range and they tell you AHEAD OF TIME that if you (or your friend) shoot above the line they will charge you $5.00. You shoot above the line and they charged you $5.00 and you get butt hurt.

If "shooting above the line" creates an unsafe shooting environment then that place should not be classified as a safe shooting range. It may take a stray bullet killing someone behind the range to prove that, but this seems to be the way our local ordinances are enforced sometimes - like, we don't need traffic lights until we have had at least 3 automobile caused deaths at intersections.

I wonder if their insurance company knows about the "shoot below the line rule".

Good for DeadCenter. I applaud their effort.

If you've ever shot an action pistol match and been down range and saw all the ceiling damage... you might rethink your position.

This issue is further complicated by shorter folks, that increase the angle that the rounds travel upward towards the ceiling baffles.

That line is based on a user of a certain height and is there to ensure the projectiles make it in to the trap... and not into the ceiling and out of the structure.

I would recommend starting new shooters at no more than 5-7 yards. They're there to work on fundamentals... not bullseye shooting at 25 yards. (And if they're capable of 25yd shooting, then this target hanger should be a non-issue).

Good luck finding another range... any of them that take good care of the range are going to this practice. You could always go get lead poisoning from a range that doesn't give a crap. There are plenty of them out there.
