Picked this up from a fellow ODT member last week. My first Swedish bolt action. The metal work is absolutely phenomenal...best I've ever seen on a bolt action rifle, actually on any milsurp I own. All numbers match except cleaning rod. Any other M96 owners out there?

Yup, that's a beauty. I have 2. A 1899, and a 1900. Both are beautiful, one looks mint, and the other more war torn. I've heard these are the best Mauser rifles, with k98's coming in right behind.

One of my better decisions in life--I bought 3 of them for $69 each at Roses in Macon years ago all with matching numbers. I hunt deer regularly with mine. I did bend the bolt and drilled and tapped it for see thru rings and added the smaller thumb safety. Cheap Simmons 3 x 9 x 40 mm scope and it's awesome. It is one of the most comfortable fun to shoot guns I ever owned and I can't tell you why. It's to long, too heavy, to bulky, too much everything but for some reason it is a joy to shoot. The other two rifles I gave to the boys and gave them synthetic stocks for a project gun. They are awesome guns too and prettier than mine. Wish I had 3 more of them.
