Cruising the Pawn Shops in town I came across a Yugo Zastava Kragujevac M70 underfolder. As many of you know (mainly Soviet) I have been looking for an AK pattern rifle in 5.45. The search was fruitless after three weeks, and this one jumped out at me. I was able to look it over well, ensure that it was still under factory warranty, and walk out with it NIB with 4 mags, box, manual and grenade launcher attachment for a price I thought was fair especially in the midst of the great dumbass gun purchasing free-for-all : round two . It has some super nice features that I appreciate. The pistol grip is amazingly comfortable. The weight is reasonable. The UF stock is pretty sturdy. The piston and bolt carrier are polished (stainless?), no mag wobble, sights looked straight (more on that below) safety can be operated easily with index finger by righties with stock open or closes, bolt locks on last round (NOT bolt stick, it actually locks), the G2 trigger rocks. Folds up into a nice little package you can easily stuff into a tennis bag or something, and let's be honest, UF AKs are among the sexist firearms on the planet. I was only able to run 200 rounds through her with no malfunctions of any kind.
That's the good. Here's the not-so-good.
Barrel is US and not chrome-lined.
Grenade sight walks under fire obstructing primary sight picture (fixed with a dab of locktite)
Cheek welding, while perfectly possible, isn't all that comfortable. I have no cuts or bruises or anything, just not as nice as a fixed A2 or something.
Sights, while not visibly canted, are off. At 25 yards, my rounds landed consistently low-right. While acceptable at 25 yards, at 100 and beyond, I'm not hitting ****. That is the biggest issue with th rifle and one that must be addressed now. I would appreciate tips on how to correct the problem myself without having to ship back to manufacturer.
