Hi, Canadian.
Most of us are from Georgia, but some of the gun and hunting and shooting info will be relevant no matter where in the USA you are. But for details of hunting and fishing regulations for the State of California, be sure to find CA-specific resources.
I've been shooting in Canada a number of times. Handguns, even! Restricted firearms that had to be declared at the border, both in and out.
My dad hunted black bear in Canada, and he got a 200-lb. bear while another guy in his group got a 500 pound bear. And what's odd is that my dad happened to have a .35 Remington rifle, while the other guy had a .375 H&H magnum. So it worked out well.
