Well we walked it together and it is on the line. We have agreed to share. :)

Do you have any kind of written agreement of how this will work out? I wonder why someone would have built it on the line to begin with. Best of luck and hopefully you can continue to get along well with the new neighbor.

In your post with the photo you said it was 1/2 way back to the property line, now you say its on the line, ???

It's half way back to the rear property line. It is apparently on the line on the side. The property was once a 30 acre single trac of land. It was subdivided into 3 individual tracks. The previous owner of all the property built it before it was subdivided by the bank after foreclosure.

I think i would still have at lease the boundary line surveyed on which the tree house is on--shouldn't cost to much--i surveyed for 5 years and we did this all the time just to find lot lines--you will find that when people think it is there property they have been know to move the markers---did you find the markers (all of them) should be steel rods or pipes--only way you will know is have a survey done---good luck

I would agree however... A survey used to cost @ $350, this past month I had a guy that wanted a survey on a lot that was 2 acres, the surveying co the atty typically used wanted $575, he called around and the others he spoke to were in the same price range. None of them were willing to use or even try to find to pins as a starting point. I guess it all depends on if they'll go off the existing pins / rods and if this was cut up, they may not be.

What i don't understand if the property was subdivided after foreclosure and the tree house was built before the foreclosure then the tree house should of been put on the survey--if it wasn't put on the survey something is wrong---are you sure you got what you paid for??

^^^ THIS ^^^^ When it was cut into smaller lots there was a survey done. At least go to the county and get a copy of the plot, see who did the survey and get a copy. Survey copies from the surveying co are typically less than $25. Good thinking Largo9

Around here they start at the center-line marker of the road or right of way marker as a starting point ( a known legally correct marker ) at least they use too, may be different now though with GPS and new technology.

TO survey you have to have a starting point and it is not the pipe on the property--most times it is a starting point at a intersection and you work your way to the property---sounds like what they did was a shi--- survey
