New Hunter

Hi everyone. I just moved here from Miami and am wondering were would be a good place to deer hunt? I’m in the Milton area. Several people I’ve spoken to say it’s dangerous to hunt on public land because there’s too many hunters around. Some have said to join a hunting club but I can’t afford that right now. I prefer to hunt in open areas and don’t mind hiking to get there. Any guidance/advice is appreciated.

I’d head up to the mountains and hunt the remainder of the season on the National Forest or the open WMA land. There are still some really nice bucks being killed up there.

If you plan to get up in North GA HMU as I am familiar with several WMAs - lost my hunting bud to health issues.
