IS YO KNOW WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE NOW, YES IT LOOKS LIKE A PORCUPINE ,SO WHAT CAN I GET TO GROW IN THAT AREA NOW, WITHOUT ALOT MORE WORK? I AM PLANNING ON PUTTING LIME AND FERTILIZER ON IT IN A FEW DAYS. Sunflower seeds will germinate from scatter seeding if we get rain. Deer love the green leaves and stems.

Do you plan on plowing it or can you plow it? If not I wouldn't bother planting anything. Instead I would hit it a few more times with the bushhog between now and deer season. You'd be surprised what the young native volunteer growth will draw in especially on 5 acres. Go ahead and fertilize and lime it though. It will help. Good luck.
