I mainly see myself using it as a range toy and id like to consider the value of each type of round. I personally don’t need the extra protection as it stands, but i also like the idea of having it to get a good start in thinking of what I could consider down the line for self defense/home defense. I’ve been thinking 9mm because of the price, the fact that 17s are common and because of its middle of the road recoil and size. Correct me if i’m wrong but 9mm seems to be a round most can handle while still being really effective. I see it as the most average of the bunch!

I typically like having no finger grooves, and i haven’t tried a gen2, but the stippling on the gen5 just doesn’t work for me as much as i love the grip on both gen3 and 4
Yea, i like that last statement. those calibers are just so down the middle it’s almost a no brainer. Thanks!Welcome big glock shooter here, welcome to the club.
The way a gun feels and the way a gun shoots is different, if you can find a way to rent guns at a range or some buddies take you out to use what they’ve got.
I like gen 5 triggers much more, but I wouldn’t blame anyone for any gen 3-5 glock, 17’s and 45’s are nice in the hand but pretty hard to conceal under a shirt, good duty size, range gun or home defense, the 19 is better if it’s gotta be hidden. (I know you’re not 21 yet but consider the idea either way)
I recommend most people go strait to an MOS model so they can be ready to throw an optic on when they are ready. Some fight that, the future is now with red dots.
Definitely 9mm only for your first couple guns. I’d get a .22LR/5.56/9mm down before I worry about any other calibers.
