New to the area - Want to hunt

I heard chestatee (so?) was a good place for hogs and a 12 ga with slugs would drop even the angriest oinker...bs or true?
Heck yeah a 12ga slug would throw a hog down. If I were hunting with a 12ga, I would spend my money on the hollow point slugs at walmart. Just be sneaky, get close, and let one go into their lungs. As far as location buddy, there's no easy answer except trial and error. These good ol' southern boys wont give away their spots to you and everyone else reading here. Stick to the low ground near water sources, look for signs of them rooting (basically disturbing the ground with their snouts to eat), look for their tracks (they look similar to deer tracks), and of course their poopers. Don't be discouraged if you don't bring home the bacon on day one. Almost any time of the day their up eating and be cautious of their keen sense of smell, their vision sucks though so be very still of they look your way. Stay safe.

so, having a hunter's education card is step one, step two is to go get the free online GA regulations PDF guide located HERE and study that from front to back. It is every hunter's individual responsibility to know what proper documents they need for their specific goals. I personally do not hunt WMA's, but the answer to your question should be in there. However, I do know that each WMA is different, in regards to checking into the specific area and tagging your game. I know it sounds confusing and a hassle, but once you get in the swing of things- it will be no big deal.
That depends on which one you buy. If you buy the sportsman's license, then yes you are good on most any WMA. If you are just buying a regular hunting license, then you also need to buy a WMA license.
As previously stated, make sure you read all regulations regarding your intended hunting area before you go.

I`ve hunted public lands since 1970 every year,and been in clubs,also. I`ve slain a ton of deer on WMAs,some very good bucks. Those with bad experiences on WMAs most likely hunted close to the road,along with the other close-to-the-road hunters. Walk way in or hunt thickets. Hunt where most others won`t hunt. If you ask a Southern boy about hunting in his club or on his private land,don`t refer to a shotgun as a "shotty". He will know that you`re from New York or California.And probably won`t let you hunt.A little humor there. Seriously,there are lots of good WMAs and good clubs.The July or Aug.issue of GON magazine will have ads that will help you find a place. Prices range from $300 a year up.
