Nice .22

Well as you can see here the 10/22 is the 350 Chevy of rimfires. They are almost impossible to beat. They're just pricey lately. I recently held a Walther 22 that felt and looked really good. But they aint cheap either. How bout a Phoenix Arms HP 22 with the optional long barrel range kit. They can be had for under $200.00.

The walther I had was super picky about the ammo it ate.

Went shooting with my dad few months back. I brought a p22 and sr22; he brought his 20+ yr old mark II with bull barrel. The mark blew the sr22 and p22 out of the water. More accurate, less malfunctions, and overall more pleasant to shoot. So I got rid of the p22 and sr22 and picked up a 22/45 lite hoping it'd be a newer and even better mark II; WRONG! The 22/45 was more comparable to the p22 and sr22, while the mark II was a winner by a long shot... Literally

So would you pick the SR 22 over the Walther? They're pretty close in looks and price. But I can't afford either right now so it's no big deal.
Me personally it would be any variant of the 22/45. Go to buds gun shop and put one on layaway for 90 or a 180 days?

I had a walther P22 for awhile... I can't recommend them. Bought it used from Howard's and shot it a good bit. The slide is made of zinc or some soft cast metal- the notch where the slide stop catches wore down fast and the slide lock wouldn't hold it back any more.

I squared it back up with a file, but overall I was really unimpressed. And the magazines are hard to load.

My MK IIs have spoiled me. Mag loaders, great ergonomics for me at least, and they've all been very accurate.

Damn! What kind of **** is Walther putting their name on?

the only time i had any issues *knock on wood* with my sr22 is when i was breaking it in. the first 1000 or so rounds the 2nd round in the mag would jam. i did have the occasional FTF and FTE lost count after 500 rounds and since there has been zero problems. its not super accurate after 20 yds, but it is more for form and training than target shooting.

nifty little toy. but nothing beats a bull barrel 22 pistol in terms of accuracy (and the buckmarks and mkIIs got it going on)
