Night vision

I've fired with the following and they all worked well:

Sightmark Photon XT
Sightmark Wraith HD
Vector Optics 4x60 Night vision
Bushnell Equinox Z night vision (rifle mount separate)

I haven't used them but I've heard good things about the Armasight WWZ and Sightmark Ghost as well.

Do these not spook the animals or can they not see the light?

Night vision optics use Infrared (IR) Light which most animals can't see. Some animals that can include snakes, mosquitos, frogs, and bees. Humans can see some IR but only at certain wavelengths.

To answer your question, yes and no. It depends on what you're hunting. Most animals can't see IR.

Green light does not spook game. White light definitely does.

Some animals are colorblind to reds and greens, like deer and hogs. It's hard for most animals to distinguish difference in greens so a light is pretty much invisible. The caveat to that is animals like deer and hogs are drawn to better lit areas (that's why spotlight hunting is illegal) and that's why moving with a green or red light does alert them to your movement. They can't see the color but they can detect the brighter shade.
