Were you on the battlefield? if not don't worry about what the net shows they used. I know for a fact that they use what ever scope they want. 3 of the Snipers I shot with last week had 25 power S&Bs

I'm pretty sure that there are no American Military Precision Rifles that are still using fixed power scopes.Setting up a PSR that is similar in specs/requirements of military PSRs. I don't care about a "gamed out" set up with 25x magnification etc (I would if I was shooting at a mile etc). I want the set up that's similar to what was used in the battlefields, like the army's M24 SWS.

I saw the website, I might go this month... either that or CMP park in Tennessee.Use of fixed power scopes was a compromise to gain reliability. That is no longer needed or used. I recommend that you go to a range like CMP with someone that has a good quality rifle with a variable scope and shoot at 600 yards with the scope set at 10, then set at 20 or 25. Even better if you can go to 1000 yard range to do this. To test the other end of the spectrum try it again at 10x and then 5 or 5.5x on a mover at 200 yards. You should really do this before investing that kind of money in a fixed power scope.
Though I don't go there anymore, Gun Sight Hills has an 800 yard range and also has movers at around 300.
Quality of glass can be different, too.Just because one scope is made under the same roof as another does not mean you are getting the same scope. Different vendors have different requirements of the manufacturer, as well as specifying the tolerances to particular degrees. Tighter tolerances = more expensive optics.
