As of the first of 2020 Nikon won't be producing any new rifle scopes.

No, they only changed warranty specifics. You can read the specifics here at https://www.rokslide.com/forums/threads/nikon-warranty-update.142295/ It was posted this past September before the news release of closing it's scope production.

Or on their website where it shows the updated specifics. No longer will they have a no fault/accident replacement feature. Also you will need to supply a receipt of when you or the original owner purchased it. So it is still transferable.
