No appreciation of History

Wow, that is surprising they wouldn't recognize that battle. Especially considering how much it is referenced.
I will admit I have a lot of trouble recalling important dates/events/facts after years of State History, Early American History, Modern American History, Local History, History of Western Civilization, Ancient History, etc.

The sad thing is, even Texans did not really have much love for the physical site of the Alamo for many years, it was almost torn down when the new city started to creep up to the walls. If not for a couple of women in the late 1800's you would not see anything of it today.

Born and Bred native East Tennesseean here. I love Texas almost as much East Tennessee. Our proud Tennessee blood was well shed for one of the most worthy causes in US history. God bless Texas!

God Bless Tennessee!

The war of Texas Independence is where we get the term "Tennessee Volunteers"!

If nothing else, my ODT brothers and sisters, let us remember that when Texas called, volunteers came from everywhere. When the next call for Liberty arises, let us all answer as faithfully.

I remember when I was in the AF basic training and on our first leave we all went to town. I walked all through the Alamo and was also disappointed in the size, nothing like in the movies! :-)
