I normally keep mine on, on rougher stuff. Unibody can get a little flexible. I've thought about doing a hybrid cage, just not sure how far I want to go with it. Right now it's lifted 4.5 inches, swapped the vacuum disconnect dana 30 for a non disconnect version with a ratcheting locker. Swapped the rear axle to a chrysler 8.25 axle with trac lok and regeared to 4.88s. Running 33's but I think it would be fine on 35's if I take it easy on the throttle.

Even with the cherokees there's always more you can do to them

Man that’s awful to hear. You should consider rehoming her to a fellow off road lover who will lover her and let her play in the dirt!!
