NRA High Power Matches

There are good vids on Youtube about each position. Just search NRA High Power.
Here's a good vid of a guy shooting 300 rapid:
(NRA starts rapids in position with mags on ground, CMP starts rapids from the standing position with the 2rd mag inserted with a closed bolt, empty chamber, rack the bolt after you drop down in position.)

That is just awesome. See any M1a or M1 garands or plain Jane A2 rifle on the line?

So the world of HP has changed completely, that was quick, What 2 years ? I guess the Army/Marine teams lead the way and everyone else follows.

The word on the street is the military teams did not drive this change.
The world of pure marksmanship is dying a slow death, lack of new participates.
Young people want the excitement of run&gun video game like competitions.
The NRA/CMP added the A4 configuration with optic to lure more participates.

That makes sense. Completely. 3 Gun is all the rage, with the under 35 set.

I noticed on the score card " Tactical" Rifle....Anyone shoot Carbines with scopes/irons? I have never seen that, but this is year 2 for me with competitions.

Mid_range match is shot in Prone only, slow fire(25 minutes for unlimited sighters and 20 for record), 600yrds using the NRA MR1 Target which is a 72 inch circle.
Yes you can hit the target once you get the scope set, but as you perfect your shooting skill (i.e. breathing and trigger control) you can start holding the 9ring. I had a good day at 600, 10-Xs, 5-Tens, 5-Nines.

Camp Perry National Rifle Matches Results:

I had a great trip, and shot several personal high scores, what a perfect time!

July 17, President's Rifle Match http://military.wikia.com/wiki/President's_Hundred_Tab
-- Nerves were running high as usual, but once I shot the 7 in offhand the nerves subsided.
-- Wind call at 300 was 0.5moa, should have been 1.0moa, group was on the 10/9 line, only 3 leaked into the 9.
-- place 44th out of 1108 competitors to make the "President's Hundred".

that's 25 inches of wind drift.
First time shooting a perfect 200 at 600yrds.
-- place 45th out of 1041 competitors.
earned 10 EIC points toward my Distniguished Rifleman Badge
